So what do the Hastings Round Table do during their monthly meetings?

The open fire and warm hospitality of Bannatynes aside. The introductions to potential new members taken care of (we hope to see you at the next meeting Luke and Ben). The sincere hearty handshakes of previous members back as Honararies shook. The tasty 3 course dinner and a few light refreshments underway.

Once the idle chat, and often raucous laughter subsides, we get down to the serious business of debating the ‘Community Requests’. These either come in the form of a submitted online application or by a guest presentation during the evening. On this occasion we had 2 of the former and a fascinating presentation by Jonathan and Matt from Hastings Pier on the night.

Deciding where the thousands of pounds raised (mainly via one of the South Coasts biggest and best Music & Beer festivals) isn’t something taken lightly. After much debate we happily settled on two of the three requests to receive funds- one would enable a thousand children to visit the future pier event, and the other would enable a mobile theatre to perform 4 nativity shows at 2 of Hastings largest retirement homes. Good fun. Good causes.

If you’re under 45, male and would like to give something back to the local community while enjoying the company of like minded folk, please get in touch. If you would like to request funds, please get in touch. Both can be done here at our website. : )
